Portrait of Jun K Hirayama

Jun K Hirayama

With roots in both Japan and Poland, I was educated in Japan. Family trips to Europe and frequent solo travels in the United States shaped my appreciation for different cultures and perspectives.

My fascination with aircraft, a familiar presence throughout those journeys, and the influence of my father’s work in electronics drew me toward engineering. After studying aeronautical engineering, I was captivated by a documentary about Leonardo da Vinci and moved to Florence, Italy. While studying the language, I immersed myself in the city’s history and art. Encounters with local design students gradually opened a path into design. I went on to complete studies in architecture and interior design, and have also lived in both Italy and France.

Today, I work as a freelance designer across disciplines, from interiors and products to IT solutions and user experiences in digital spaces.

My approach to design begins with the atmosphere of a place and the beauty that belongs there. I seek to give tangible form to these abstract impressions—often difficult to capture in words—through clear, logical thinking.

Alongside design, I have enjoyed electronics projects, DIY, and programming since childhood, and have never lost my curiosity about technology. Practical needs arising from my design work, together with a love of exploration, now lead me to develop Blender add-ons. I also see large language models as an extension of my own thinking, exploring the new creative possibilities that technology can open up.
